“ This is a tourists opinion so take it for what it's worth. I was visiting Dublin and McDaids was recommended to me by a local. I went in for a pint and the atmosphere was great. It was pretty relaxed at the time I was in, around 7/8p on a weeknight. The service was good and overall it was a lovely pub experience. ”

“ Did you know that the building housing this pub can be traced back to the late 18th century and is reputed to have been the city morgue? Over the years, many literary greats were regular visitors here but the 50's and 60's were the decades when the pub truly established its famous reputation as being one of the most iconic literary pubs of Dublin. Don't you love how every pub in Dublin has a unique and beautiful history? I sure do. Keep in mind that McDaids only serves drinks and no food. There are two floors (the third floor holds a restroom) - during my visit, the bar on second floor was not operating. However, you could buy a drink at the bottom bar and bring it upstairs (nobody will kick you out, one thing I love about Dublin). I went here for a drink and had the good ol' jamie and ginger which was refreshing. Prices are fair and comparable to pubs around. If you are in Dublin, do stop by McDaids and enjoy a drink or two! ”
“ Great prices for great drinks, lovely to chat with the bartender and being introduced to new people. Although the place was quite small and crowded, the fact that you can go upstairs, even if the bar is closed and there are no people around, was great for some escape from the loud noise. ”

After getting our pints and finding some bar stools, we noticed the walls there are decorated with dedications to the history of McDaids. Politics aside, Hilary Clinton has even had a beer here! There were plenty of locals here as well when we stopped in who were friendly enough to tell us some of their favorite local spots. ”
